What is Pump ?

Pump can be defined as hydraulic machines which is convert to the mechanical energy into pressure energy.

What is Priming ?

Priming is the process of removing air present inside the pump casing and suction hose, so that the atmospheric pressure forces water up to the pump casing ( This can be useful in centrifugal Pump only...)
हिन्दी में Priming ------पानी को पानी के SOURCE से पम्प के आई (I) तक पहुचाने का काम यानी Priming. 

There are three main types of pump given below,

 

1.Positive Displacement pump

2.Centrifugal Pump and 

3. Ejector ( Jet ) Pump

1. Positive Displacement pump

Positive Dispalcement pump that is one in which energy is imparted to the water or other fluid by displacement between a plunger or roter and the casing of the pump.

Positive Displacement having five sub-category and it's categories by following,

1.Forced Pump (Cylinder -Piston) ----Additional Source

2.Air lift Pump -------An air lift pump is a device used to lift water from a deep well or sump by utilizing the compressed air.

3.Bucket & Pluger Type -----Combination with forced & Air lift 

4.Rotary Pump -----This can be used for lift oil/crude from vessel /drum, Here Rotation observed full 

5. Semi-Rotary -----Same use But Rotation observed half .

2.Centrifugal Pump 

It can be worked on centrifugal force, Low pressure and High Volume can achieved by this pump,Centrifugal Pump also transfer Mechanical energy to pressure energy.

Four main parts of centrifugal pump including 1.Impeller 2.Casing 3.Suction pipe with foot-valve (Strainer) and 4.Delivery Pipe

Advanatges of Centrifugal pump :-

1.Discharge is continous and very smooth
2.It can be handle quantity of liquid
3.Run at high speed
4.Compare to other pump , maintenence cost is  low
5.It's Need only Small area and also Installation cost is low
6.Pressure found same if you installed 1 or 10
7.You can increase pressure with additional increase impeller
